 Nonfinancial public sector debt decreased 0.9% in comparison with the previous quarter

 

At the end of the second quarter of 2009, the balance of the total debt of the nonfinancial public sector (NFPS) was US$11,318.0 million, reflecting a decrease of 0.9% compared to March 31st, 2009. This amount represents 25.4% of the re-estimated GDP for 2009, of which 62.7% corresponds to external debt, which presented a balance of US$7,098.6 million, while the remaining 37.3% corresponds to domestic debt, which totaled RD$151,588.3 million (equivalent to US$4,219.4 million). These amounts represent 16.0% and 9.4% of the re-estimated GDP for 2009, respectively.
