Nonfinancial public sector debt represents the 25.3% of the GDP

 

At the end of the third quarter of 2009, the debt stock of the nonfinancial public sector (NFPS) amounted US$11,435.4 million, representing the 25.3% of the re-estimated GDP for 2009. Of this amount, the 62.9% corresponds to external debt, which presented a balance of US$7,195.6 million, while the remaining 37.1% corresponds to domestic debt, which totaled RD$152,870.7 million (equivalent to US$4,239.8 million). These amounts represent 15.9% and 9.4% of the estimated GDP for 2009 (US$45,147.3 million), respectively.
