Nonfinancial public sector debt represents the 29.0% of GDP  

As of November 30th of 2011, the nonfinancial public sector (NFPS) external and domestic debt totaled US$15,782.1 million. This amount represents 29.0% of the estimated GDP.

The 71.4% of the NFPS total debt corresponds to external debt, which presented a balance of US$11,261.7 million, while the remaining 28.6% corresponds to domestic debt, which totaled RD$174,109.9 million (equivalent to US$4,520.5 million). These amounts represent 20.7% and 8.3% of the estimated GDP, respectively. Of the total domestic debt, US$2,208.6 (4.1% of GDP) is intragovernmental debt, indebtedness between governmental institutions, such as the bonds issued by the Central Government for the capitalization and recapitalization of the Central Bank.
